Did you know? Bab Nkob

The origins of the name of the N’Kob gate in Marrakesh remain a mystery to this day. N’kob is perhaps derived from the name of the N’akb cave, located north-east of the hill where you’ll find a village of the same name. It’s a peaceful place set in an oasis in Morocco’s South, located between the Drâa and Ziz Valleys. Some say that this cave was a stop for nomads, who used it as a water source as they went to gather dates in the Drâa Valley. The nomads would rest there for the night before continuing on their journey the next day. But N’kob is especially famous throughout the Kingdom for its 45 Kasbahs that dominate the surroundings and because it is the ideal departure point for hikers who want to climb Djebel Saghro.
